into the wild

I am really feeling the pull of earth and animal energies this year.  I feel really safe, nurtured, and calm when I am just BEing in the forest or even on a walk.  I love to notice the changes in the trees, meadows, birds, and dirt are going through.  I immerse myself in their texture, smell, and especially this time of year-Winter, their starkness. I think this is due to the ever-shifting nature of our worldly world...we need a place to anchor to.  Being in Nature has always allowed me to go deeper into myself.  If you are feeling isolated or lost  with the current situation and the energy of too much worldliness...then retreat into nature and come out stronger for it. I have felt the companionship of a few particular animal energies this year so far.  Oddly, last year it was 'Donkey'.  I learned a bunch from these sturdy, helpful, and stubborn animals.  This year it is the wild and strong 'Wolf' energy.  The other is the beautiful and healing bird the 'Flicker'. Flickers are in the woodpecker family and are held sacred by many.  There feathers are used by healers.  I have a few.  I love them!  The quill part is orange and then I have some with the polka dots.  Totally cool.  I have incorporated them into healing tools.  A rattle and a feather smudge wand  used to break up stagnant energy and cleanse the energy field. Feathers have big medicine to offer. Ever since the December Moon Cycle I have been feeling Wolf energy.  And it has been showing up in my dreams and many other places. When I am curious about animal energies I encounter or feel, I go to Ted Andrews book called "Animal Speak- The Spiritual & Magical Powers of Creatures Great & [...]

a shout from the wind

Hello dear ones! On this blustery Samhain (pronounced sau-win) I thought I'd share a wee couple of poems I recently scribbled. ------------- a shout from the wind and all the leaves jump from the tree and run across the lawn to safe harbor at every nook they can put themselves. --------------- the trees celebrate the close of the season with a burst of confetti before retiring for the long winter's rest. -------------- Now I'm off to sit in the front of the fire & enjoy All Hallows' Eve.  Hope you do too!

Tree Transmissions Project for Peace–YOU can do something!

Our home, planet Earth and its peoples are undergoing a huge amount of stress, fear and conflict, which has many of us wondering— “What can I do?” Are you one of those sensitive beings who is feeling a bit overwhelmed, fearful, anxious and/or helpless about the situations going on around the world? I know I have at times. Today I have a suggestion for a tool that we can all use to facilitate a more positive, nourishing and peaceful planet. And guess what, it is super easy and everyone can do it. First, we need some helpers. Some very wise and experienced beings have stepped up and agreed to work with us for the benefit of all. Ancient people, like the Cherokee people of North America, revered these beings and knew of their sacred nature and their specialized qualities. These wise beings are the trees. The Cherokee especially thought of the White Pine and conifers as highly efficient in spreading the vibration of peace and transforming aggression. The deep roots of the trees can transmit peace deeply into the Earth. It also transmits it up and outward. Broadcasting it like a signal through the tips of its branches…look at them…don’t they look like antennae? We can maximize this effect with large numbers of trees and people acting together. And all we have to do is ask.  This is the one thing we have to do. Humbly ask their help. I am calling this the “Tree Transmissions Project for Peace.” I suggest we also use the power of the upcoming New Moon, Equinox and Eclipse on March 20, 2015 to strengthen our ceremonies around this request. Here are times of the exact equinox in the United States 6:45 P.M. EDT, 5:45 P.M. CDT, 4:45 P.M. MDT, and 3:45 P.M. PDT Okay, [...]

befriend the communicators of vibration

Did you know the Cherokee believe trees to be great communicators of vibration between all things living on the Earth and the Stars?  The White Pine in particular is held very sacred in the Cherokee culture.  They believe it communicates deep vibrations from the Earth into the atmosphere where we become entrained to those sacred vibrations.  They believe the White Pine is a symbol of life and that it can transmute aggression to peace.  I say we call on these pine trees and all trees to aid the Earth and its people to move toward peace. Our beautiful planet Earth is a network of meridians and grids that mirror our physical body. Everything-- plants, trees, seeds, water, people, dogs, insects, radishes have a system of lines of energy--meridians, channels, centers, grids and points of connection and flow.  It is these systems or networks of energy that allow subtle (and powerful) forms of vibration to communicate within and between all things. I love thinking of trees as transmitters of vibration between the Earth, Stars and Us.  So beautiful.  And if you look at the very top of pine trees...they do look like antenna! The Cherokee also have a knowledge of their physical energy system.  They believe that many of the energies flow through their navel.  Sound being a major energy that begins it all.  First there is sound before anything comes into being.  From emptiness to sound.    All of your intentions begin this way.  When you first have an intention--it is super important to state it out loud.  Then gain knowledge around it (wisdom)  and from wisdom to love...or action as I would put it.  You go for it! Possibly we can state our intention for a movement to peace to the trees, calling on them for their assistance in transmitting [...]

For the birds

out the door dog by side the woods are calling. insides bubbling and smiling, tongues and tails wagging. peel away webs shrouding eyes and face left by 8 legged weavers in the night. leaves crunch, twigs crack. dust flying from small thundering feet speeding by. birds are all twitter louder than past visits possibly the early hour? then there high in tree sitting proudly is owl the cause of the little folk's alarm. silently he glides away leaving the little folk muttering to themselves.

When being ‘Grounded’ is a good thing!

We know what it means when we were ‘grounded’ as kids—no nothing! No TV, no going over to friends, no movies and none of your favorites. It was a punishment. A way for others (parents) to take some control and to enforce the rules of the household. But this isn’t the type of grounding I am talking about, although they are interesting to compare. One takes away and one gives. So let’s talk about the one that gives! We all have this gift and tool at our disposal we just need to learn how to use it. Grounding is connecting to the Earth and exchanging and sharing energy with hers. This allows you and your energy system to be cleansed and restored. It is like powering up and re-booting your whole energy system. This energy and connection is SO supportive and secure feeling. Energy is all around us. Most of us are unaware of the energy exchange that goes on continuously between us and everything else…and yes, I mean everything! When we are grounded and earth energy is moving through us–it’s like having a warm cozy blanket and favorite fuzzy slippers on. It is an amazing connection and feeling –and you can use it freely and easily. Once you learn the techniques and exercises you can connect easily and exchange supportive energy for you and your energy system. These benefits can be used in stressful or emotional times. When we experience feelings of over-whelm. We may feel like our heart is heavy or our throat constricted or pain in our belly. This is stuck energy and by moving it down into the Earth we can receive her support and loosen that energy from being stagnant. When it is able to move we can work with it more powerfully and receive energy [...]
